Build resilience, confidence, and hope
The Yellow Couch is a trauma-informed wellbeing and mentoring initiative led by TKA Organisation, designed to provide early intervention and emotional support for young people and families facing complex challenges.
Delivered through a safe, non-clinical, and youth-led environment, the project offers: Weekly 1:1 mentoring sessions with trusted, trained adults Short-term, targeted therapeutic support from qualified practitioners Holistic family support where needed, to improve safeguarding and relational dynamics Our approach is rooted in understanding the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and intergenerational trauma. Many of the young people we work with have been affected by bereavement, domestic violence, abuse, neglect, or instability in care.
Our team uses trauma-informed practice to foster emotional safety, trust, and consistent support. The Yellow Couch places a strong emphasis on: Building emotional resilience and self-regulation Strengthening identity, self-worth, and future aspirations Reducing risk factors related to school exclusion, offending, or poor mental health Promoting protective factors through mentoring, positive relationships, and access to early therapeutic interventions We work in partnership with schools, youth services, and local authorities, contributing to a multi-agency approach to safeguarding and youth development.
Our outcomes-focused model enables us to track progress around mental wellbeing, engagement, and confidence, ensuring each young person’s voice and lived experience are central to their journey. Ultimately, The Yellow Couch aims to create safe spaces for healing, empowerment, and long-term change—supporting young people not just to cope, but to thrive.
