MamaConnect

Helping young parents access guidance

MamaConnect is a holistic early intervention project designed to support teenage parents from low-income backgrounds, helping them build strong foundations for themselves and their children. We understand that becoming a parent at a young age can be overwhelming—especially without access to the right support, information, or community. That’s where we come in.

Our programme offers a wide range of wraparound support, including: 1:1 mentoring from trained professionals and peer mentors Parenting classes tailored to young mums and dads Help returning to school, college, or employment Support with finances, budgeting, and benefit access Workshops on healthy relationships, including how to recognise and leave abusive situations Family reconciliation support or a safe, non-judgmental space where young people can disclose their pregnancy to loved ones Peer connections with local mums, building supportive networks and reducing isolation We also recognise the often-overlooked role of young fathers.

MamaConnect actively supports young dads through mentoring, signposting, and hands-on workshops to help them feel confident and prepared for fatherhood. At the heart of our work is the belief that early intervention changes lives. When young parents are supported early and effectively, their children are less likely to be taken into care and more likely to thrive in stable, loving environments. By offering practical guidance and emotional support, we help break cycles of poverty, loneliness, exploitation, and other root causes that can lead to early parenthood.

The UK continues to have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in Europe, disproportionately affecting marginalised communities. MamaConnect exists to change that story—empowering young parents to realise they are not alone, that they have choices, and that with the right support, they can build a bright future for themselves and their children.
